The Bijou Clan is a notable human faction, distinct for being the largest and only major human group allied with the alien hivemind Tsiktral. They belong to the broader Clans culture of Euphrosyne and view Tsiktral not as an enemy or a resource, but as a god.
relationship with Tsiktral
The clan is named after its leader, a tribeswoman named Bijou, who single-handedly managed to forge the alliance between the clan and the hivemind. For her immense loyalty, Tsiktral rewarded her with the coveted fugue gift, cementing her leadership. Before her intervention, no such alliance existed.
In times of conflict, Tsiktral frequently dispatches its spawns to fight alongside the clan. In return, the Bijou Clan offers tribute; they send volunteers, and sometimes captives, to partake in a ritualized ceremony where they are infected with host disease to serve the hive.
Despite this alliance, Tsiktral is highly protective of its core territories and generally does not permit even its most loyal human followers to enter what it considers hive lands. The clan also faces hostility from other factions due to this alliance, most notably the Blue Palm clan.
the gifted
Among all the factions on Euphrosyne, the Bijou Clan boasts the highest number of “Gifted” individuals-people who have survived the harrowing process of receiving the fugue gift from a fugue spider and can now manipulate the Anomaly.
While the gifted are still exceptionally rare, their presence shapes the clan’s hierarchy. Those who survive the infection and manifest the neuron-like growths are revered and hold high-status positions within the clan’s society. The practice of riding Tsiktral spawns into combat or for transportation is still common among the Gifted within the clan.
