The Vanguard Exclave is a remnant of the Vanguard empire’s military that was stranded on Euphrosyne following the Great War. They operate as a highly militarized, authoritarian, far-left socialist faction. The capital of the Vanguard Exclave is Sonne. They see themselves as the truest representatives of Gaia.
Due to their origins and advanced technology, they belong to the Mechanics culture. They are commonly referred to as the Exclave or simply Vanguard. Another frequent nickname for them is “Wambys,” a title stemming from their intense, cult-like devotion to their assassinated former leader, Yoseung Wambi. Their faction symbol is a red star on a black circle.

The Exclave is highly aggressive, strictly authoritarian, and currently engaged in multiple ongoing conflicts:
- Commonwealth of Accra: They are locked in a bitter, ongoing conflict with the Commonwealth-a rebel faction that successfully split from them. The Exclave derisively refers to them as “liberals” or simply “rebels.”
- HMC: They are locked in a constant war with the Hephaestus Mining Corporation over resources and territory.
- The Hive: They are continuously fighting against the Tsiktral hive and its spawns over access to lucrative neuron roots.
They maintain functional trade relations with the Nomads, to whom the Exclave sells recovered technology and mined neurons.
