The Cradle is a mythical and heavily guarded hidden bunker located near one of the frozen poles of Euphrosyne. It is under the strict protection of the Hephaestus Mining Corporation (HMC).

According to speculation and rumor, the bunker houses the frozen body of Simon Kaj, the pre-war CEO of HMC. He is believed to be resting inside a state-of-the-art cryosleep casket.
It is believed that Consonance, the AI managing HMC’s operations on the planet, is tirelessly working to stabilize Euphrosyne. Her ultimate goal is to reestablish what she calculates to be “safe living conditions” across the planet, at which point she intends to awaken Simon from his long sleep.
