The Old Core is a massive, blown-out, and burnt-out hole in the ground located on Euphrosyne. It marks the original location of the hivemind Tsiktral’s central brain, and possibly the exact site where the hive’s initial larva landed on the planet back in the 15th century.

During the early conflict between Tsiktral and the Hephaestus Mining Corporation (HMC), the mining corporation assaulted the site using flamethrowers and explosives, completely destroying the hive’s brain and leaving nothing but a giant hole.
Today, the site is abandoned by the hive (who relocated their brain to a new, hidden Tsiktral Core). The surrounding area is now completely enveloped by the mysterious phenomenon known as the fugue. It remains unclear what, if anything, exists inside the hole now.
