Communication across Euphrosyne is heavily fragmented and relies on a mix of local infrastructure, analog radio, and physical couriers.
internet
A global internet network does not exist on the planet. This is primarily because it is impossible to launch communication satellites into orbit due to the dense fugue and orbital debris field left over from The Great War.
Instead, the largest connected, localized internet networks are controlled individually by the Mechanics, the Remnant, and the HMC. Each advanced settlement usually maintains a unified internal network that may or may not be connected to other nearby settlements via physical cables. Some factions will set up permanent fiber optic cables or string temporary optic wires across the wasteland to establish direct communication lines.
radio
Radio is widely used but comes with severe limitations:
- Local Radio: Standard walkie-talkies are heavily utilized for short-range squad communication.
- Long-Range Radio: Due to the planet’s atmospheric conditions and anomalous interference, long-range audio transmissions usually feature heavily muffled, noisy sound.
- Packet Radio: Factions frequently rely on packet radio signal technology to send text messages and smaller data files across long distances reliably.
physical data transfer
When secure or massive amounts of data need to be moved across distant locations without a cable connection, factions simply physically transport the data drives using drones, robots, helicopters, or human couriers.
Tsiktral
The alien hivemind Tsiktral possesses the most advanced and robust communication infrastructure on the entire planet. Rather than relying on easily severable cables or static-filled radios, the hive uses its massive, subterranean neural root network to transfer unfathomable amounts of data across the continent at lightning speed.
